I’m Patti
I’m 43, and just back from an amazing holiday with the kids — now staring at a mountain of laundry, wondering how it’s even possible to gain that much weight in two weeks, while juggling two jet-lagged children and a suitcase full of junk bought on a whim. And somewhere in that slightly frazzled moment, I realised… I needed a space that was just mine.
I have two wonderful children, aged 6 and 12, who take up most of my time, my energy, and — let’s be honest — my brain space. I used to have a challenging, full-on career, which I stepped away from nearly a decade ago after realising it was doing more harm than good during our struggles to conceive our second child.
As fate (and maternity leave) would have it, my husband’s career took off just as I hit pause on mine — and thankfully, that meant I had the option to focus on our growing family.
These days, we co-run a couple of businesses in Scotland, though we live in Hertfordshire — which comes with its own logistical quirks and juggling. We adore Scotland, and as a family of outdoor lovers, we believe that fresh air, muddy boots, and big skies are essential ingredients for raising happy, resilient kids.
